Distribution : Indian sub-continent to Myanmar.

Remarks : This is a rare variety of V. tessellata with a dominantly purplish lip and yellow background on the petals and sepals. This species is also known as V. roxburghii R. Br. and the flower extract is known to contain some aphrodisiac properties and is used as such by some people in the Indian sub-continent.
