Published in : Fl. Cochinch. 2: 520 (1790).

Distribution : South China to Tropical Asia.

Remarks : Plant owned and photographed by Mr Rosli Zakaria. Thank you to Mr Peter O'Byrne for identifying the species. This is the type species for the genus Galeola Lour. It is a long climbing and scrambling plant closely related to Vanilla

Quoted from Mr O'Byrne ...

"It is saprophytic (grows on decaying wood) and is widespread across the region from Myanmar to China to Indonesia and the Phillipines, from sealevel to 1200 metres altitude, often in rather open places. It is probably impossible to cultivate. Despite being widespread it is uncommon and seldom seen."
