Type specimen - flowers

Original drawing by Ridl. courtesy of Dr. Leslie A Garay's Archives

Published in : Unpublished (Nomen nudum).

Distribution : Penin. Malaysia.

Remarks : Thanks to Dr Leslie A. Garay for identifying this species. His comments:

"Cirrh. tenuicaule Ridl. is a peculiar situation. I attach Ridley's drawing. However, Ridley never described it and later he listed it as C. gamosepalum Griff., which of course it is not. Specimens of this collection have been distributed in different herbaria, including the AMES Orchid Herbarium at Harvard. In the mean time it was mentioned by Rolfe in The Orchid Review in 1937, 45:343, as flowering at Kew Gardens and the flowers are described as "pale buff flowers almost completely covered with a multitude of pale, rosy-mauve mottlings." Unfortunately I cannot see enough details of the petals and column. It is closest to the enclosed Ridley drawing..."
